Hvað er PPE?

PPE er þekkingaryfirfærsluverkefni sem miðar að því að þróa nám í plastiðnum á Íslandi. Í dag er ekki boðið upp á formlegt nám í plastiðnum  á Íslandi, en til skamms tíma var þó kennd skipasmíði úr trefjastyrktu plasti. Þrátt fyrir að iðngreinin sé ekki stór  á Íslandi, þá eru í dag um 50 fyrirtæki sem skilgreina sig sem plastfyrirtæki og í álíka mörgum fyrirtækjum spilar plast veigamikið hlutverk í framleiðslunni.  Verkefnið er styrkt af menntaáætlun Evrópusambandsins í gegnum Leonardo og stendur í tvo ár.

What is PPE?

The PPE project involves a tehnical and knowledge transfer within the field of plastic with the aim of developing a curriculum in plastics in Iceland. Today there is no formal education in plastics in Iceland although  courses were offered a few years ago in boatbuilding from fibre reinforced plastic. Today there are about 50 companies which define themselves as plastic firms and roughly the same number of companies where plastic plays an important role in their operation.  The project is sponsored by the Leonardo division and the European Lifelong Learning Programme.
